Mallory McMorrow for U.S. Senate

PRESS RELEASE

McMorrow Marks 4th Anniversary of Dobbs Decision

MICHIGAN — Four years ago today, Trump’s Supreme Court gutted Roe v Wade and took away Michiganders’ most fundamental right to bodily autonomy. Since then, Michiganders codified reproductive access in the state constitution, and Democrats in the state legislature enacted sweeping protections for reproductive rights—but there are still far too many across the country left without access.

“When this extremist SCOTUS gutted Roe, we didn’t sit back and take it. We showed the rest of the country that we can organize, we can rally, and we can fight back,” said Mallory McMorrow. “We were not and are not powerless. We rallied, collected more signatures than for any other ballot initiative in state history, and passed a ballot initiative enshrining abortion access and reproductive rights into our state constitution, flipped control of the state Senate for the first time in nearly 40 years, repealed the 1931 abortion ban, and passed the Reproductive Health Act. Our rights are non-negotiable. Not then. Not now. Not ever. And I will take that same fight to the U.S. Senate.”
