McMorrow Surges to Lead in Michigan Senate Primary

MICHIGAN — A new Emerson College Polling/Nexstar Media survey of the Democratic Primary for U.S. Senate in Michigan found State Senate Majority Whip Mallory McMorrow surging to the lead – with 22% support – compared to 17% for U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens, and 16% for Abdul El-Sayed.

The poll, conducted this week, also shows McMorrow with the highest net favorable rating of any candidate among general election voters (+9 compared to +1 for Stevens and -5 for El-Sayed), and handily defeating Mike Rogers in a hypothetical general election matchup.

“Michiganders are ready for new leadership in Washington, and this poll reflects exactly that,” said Senator McMorrow. “Business as usual won’t cut it, not now. That’s what we’ve heard loud and clear in every corner of the state over the last ten months of this campaign. We’re showing up everywhere – from breweries to churches to living rooms to union halls – listening to everyone, and building an agenda, and a future, worth fighting for.”

McMorrow has closed what was once a double-digit gap in the primary, doubling her support from May, and is now running in first place, driven by rapid gains in name recognition and enthusiasm — without any paid ad spending and without taking a dime of corporate PAC money in this race.

Emerson College is consistently one of the most-accurate pollsters in America. The overall sample of Michigan likely voters, n=1,000, has a credibility interval, similar to a poll’s margin of error (MOE), of +/- 3 percentage points.
