McMorrow Secures Endorsement of Chair of Michigan Black Summit Trenton Bowens

MICHIGAN — Yesterday, Michigan Senate Majority Whip and candidate for U.S. Senate Mallory McMorrow received the endorsement of Trenton Bowens, Benton Harbor Area Schools Trustee and Chair of the Michigan Black Summit.

The endorsement comes a week after the Michigan Black Summit hosted a forum for Senate candidates, attended by both McMorrow and primary opponent Abdul El-Sayed. Congresswoman Haley Stevens declined to attend. In his statement, Bowens explained:

“Leadership is not just about vision. It is about execution. It is about navigating the Legislature, building coalitions, and getting bills across the finish line. That is where my gut leads me to Mallory McMorrow,” Bowens said. “She has proven she can govern, not just campaign. In this moment, I believe Michigan needs someone who not only inspires but delivers.”

“Last week, Trenton Bowens helped bring together hundreds of community leaders for the Michigan Black Summit. Every week, he shows up for students as a member of the Benton Harbor Board of Education. I’m so grateful to have him on this team,” McMorrow said.

Bowens joins a large and growing list of federal, state, and local officials, organizations, and community leaders that have endorsed McMorrow’s campaign.
