PRESS RELEASE

Third U.S. Senator, Peter Welch, Endorses Mallory McMorrow in Michigan’s U.S. Senate Race

MICHIGAN — Today, Michigan Senate Majority Whip and candidate for U.S. Senate Mallory McMorrow received the endorsement of U.S. Senator Peter Welch, his first in a contested primary this cycle. Sen. Welch is a leading advocate in the U.S. Senate for rural development, sound climate policy, protecting democracy, and ridding corporate influence from our politics.

“We need no-nonsense leaders in the Senate who will work hard for both rural America and folks in big cities. I know that’s Mallory McMorrow—she is a fighter, an effective policymaker, and a tireless advocate for Michigan families,” said Senator Welch. “I am confident she’ll stand up for hardworking Michiganders every day in the U.S. Senate and I look forward to serving with her.”

“If this moment has taught us anything, it’s that now is not the time to sit on the sidelines,” said Senator McMorrow. “Senator Welch is a leader on the front lines of the work to protect our democracy and deliver a better tomorrow for every family, and I’m proud to have his endorsement.”

Sen. Welch is the latest to join a fast-growing list of endorsements for McMorrow, including two other U.S. Senators, Chris Murphy and Martin Heinrich, as well as dozens of state legislators, county commissioners, mayors, and local officials from across Michigan.
